For those of us with aging hardware and no TPM module in our bios, Win 11 may not be an option. I will be switching to a Linux distribution myself. It is strongly recommended that you do not just stick with Windows 10 because without security updates your PC will very likely become compromised.
I recommend the following distributions.
Zorin
Zorin has a very windows feel and it is already set up to install ‘some’ windows programs very easily using ‘Bottles’ and ‘Wine’.
MiniOS
MiniOS feels very responsive. I have run it in a Virtual box with a gig ram, and only using 2 of my 4 CPU processors and it flies! It is very user friendly. However it comes with only basic software so you may need to install and configure software yourself.
Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a fine and stable distro with loads of community support.
Mint
One of my favorite ubuntu spinoffs. It takes ubuntu and makes it more windows like.
Flex OS (chrome)
If most of your computer time is in the browser (most people are in this category) I would strongly consider turning your aging PC into a Chromebook. It is probably one of the most secure OS platforms available. Easy to use, hard to break. The only downside is you will be required to have a gmail account to have the OS save your settings. oherwise you can always use it in guest mode.

Others
There are endless linux distributions available. Linux has come a long way and is now very easy to install and use.
