Remember those old StarTrek games written in BASIC? search for eg: Search for “Star Trek Classic : Basic JS”. If you even remotely liked those games, this is a must play.
Imagine StarTrek BASIC, then have real time ships, enemies and friendly ships flying around fighting a war. Not turn based.
Then add Stars with planets that you can order to be bombed, beamed down to, robbed, land battles, gather slaves or just blown to smithereens.
Then when your rank is high enough you can manage 4 destroyers and then manage fleets and finally become the Admiral.
Manage resources, board ships, call supply ships.
There is not much this game does not have.
Their game description does not do it justice.
My complaints would be the single thread dos limitations that cause some pausing, and key stroke confusion. But minor complaints aside this is a great game.
I hope they do keep the same look and feel and do a modern version. Heck, even if done in Delphi / Lazarus. It would be nice to be able to fight for Star Fleet, but being the bad guy gives it a great ‘campy’ feeling to the game.
