Description: DBMan is a full-featured
Database Manager that provides a web interface to add, remove, modify or view
records in a flatfile ascii database. It supports an advanced user management
system, as well as a powerful permissions system
Installation: It is not difficult to
install. Setting up a custom database to mach your website style is another
matter!
Stability: Other than a few minor bugs,
this is a very stable script. It is surprising that the minor bugs have never
been fixed since they were relatively easy to fix.
Strengths:
This script is fast.
Versatile: It can be adapted
(modified) to almost any style or situation.
Database Fields are easily set up in a
configuration file.
Admin feature easily allows you to add,
modify or delete users.
User permissions are very versatile.
Users can be allowed to sign up for their
own account.
Users can delete and modify their own data
if so desired.
Weaknesses:
Steep learning curve.
If you want this database to look good, you
must heavily modify (update) a CGI file that generates all the database output.
Admin feature only allows you to take care
of the users.
Installation: It is not difficult to install. There
are quite a few directories and permissions to set however. Once that is
completed, almost everything can be set up and modified from the admin
panel.
Stability: Stable but its slow speed
makes it seem otherwise.
Strengths:
This script is slow.
Although it probably does
everything you want 'as is', I found that it can be quite constricting if you
decide you want to go outside the box.
All database functions are handled through
a admin screen.
Many options for user and database
permissions.
Users can delete and modify their own data
if so desired.
A very security conscious script.
Weaknesses:
Very steep learning curve.
You must know a lot about database
structure and theory to get this to work well.
Installation: MySQLMan is a web based
database manager. It allows you to perform common maintenance and
administration tasks in Mysql (Mysql is a great mostly-free SQL database
server). MySQLMan was based off of PHPmyadmin, but written in Perl. It allows
you to do common tasks like:
browse/create/drop databases
browse/search/create/drop/alter tables
import/export data
add/remove/alter table columns
add/remove/alter table keys
Stability : Yes
Strengths:
Does all it says
Weaknesses:
No option to act as a front end or go
between for 'your' web pages

provides clients with a web interface that enables them to manage databases and
organize information on a customized platform. Clients are able to access
shared databases from wherever they are. Not only are they able to read
information but they are also able to add to, modify, delete and search from
multiple databases based on keyword recognition.
WebDB is the foundation of eXtropia's open
source ADT. With WebDB 8.0 clients have a swift, convenient, flexible
productivity tool for managing information. The product includes an Address
Book, Project Tracker, Inventory Manager, News Publisher, and allows email
notification and logging. It also has an integrated authentication feature
compatible with standard UNIX, DB, LDAP, or NTLM. Users are able to turn on and
off features as required.
This product is ideally suited for business
people on the move who need instant access to company or client information. It
is also a great management tool for companies and organisations in terms of
project coordination, inventory control, client management and information
dissemination.
Installation: Basic installation is
easy. However, if you want to design your own databases and applications, you
have a lot of reading to do. The manual is very good though.
Stability : Yes
Strengths:
Does all it says.
Comes with many many pre designed
usefull databases out of the box.
